Winter Bookings

It's gorgeous here in the autumn and winter months. Typically it's crisp and bright with stunning frosts during January and February. The tourists have moved on for the year, leaving the French and English locals to socialise before the summer months come again and we're all busy with guests. Many people enquire about winter bookings as it's a popular time for longer breaks or house hunting. We offer cottage 'Amélie' for winter bookings.

Amélie in winter

We considered winter bookings when we renovated Amélie in 2018. This two bedroom cottage offers all the same that is described in our summer brochure but is also heated for the colder months. The advantage of Amélie is that it is smaller and nestled in the centre of our stone barn building, therefore easier to heat. Anyone with experience of large stone houses will tell you that they take a lot to keep warm in the winter.

Heating is provided by a large log burner in the main living area and electric wall heaters in other spaces. It is our usual winter practice that fuel, both wood and electricity, is not included in the rental price.

It may be obvious to say that the swimming pool will be out of action for the winter period, and we often use this time to complete projects on the house and garden. We do not have any major renovations planned for the coming winters.
